Richmond Hill High School has been awarded the prestigious UGA Director's Cup Award! This esteemed recognition, awarded annually by the University of Georgia Office of Admissions, acknowledges the Georgia high school whose graduates have earned the highest cumulative GPA at the completion of their first year at UGA. This is Richmond Hill High School’s second time receiving this incredible recognition—first in 2020 and now again in 2024! Congratulations, Wildcats! 🐾

We have updated the following webpage with the latest afternoon drop-off times and locations. Please take note that there has been one change to the pick-up/drop-off locations for Mulberry. We kindly ask for your patience, as traffic conditions may cause some delays. Additionally, please ensure you arrive early at the stops. For safety reasons, elementary students will not be allowed off the bus without a parent or guardian present to pick them up. If you are unable to meet the bus at the stop, elementary parents must come to the school to pick up their child. We hope you are staying safe during this challenging time. We understand that the recent flooding may have disrupted your usual routines, including getting your children to school. Please know that any absences due to the flooding will be fully excused, as the safety of your family is our top priority. We hope this message finds you safe. Portions of our county continue to be impacted by flooding due to Tropical Storm Debby. We understand that some families continue to experience significant challenges associated with this flooding. Please know that our schools will remain open for families whose children can safely attend. We recognize the importance of maintaining a routine and providing a safe place for students, especially as many parents need to continue working. Due to standing water, there will be NO TRANSPORTATION provided to certain areas of the county. We hope to notify those impacted families by the end of the day. We want to assure you that any and all absences related to flooding will be excused. Your family's safety is our top priority, and we understand that attending school may not be possible for some students at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the flooding. If your family is facing difficulties, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you in any way we can.

Due to standing water, there will be NO TRANSPORTATION for the following subdivisions: MULBERRY SUBDIVISION RICHMOND PLACE (behind Kroger) There will be MODIFIED BUS STOPS for the below locations: WHITE OAK SUBDIVISON – All students will be dropped off at the parking area across from the community pool. (Elementary parents must come to the school if they are unable to meet the bus at the stop. Elementary students will not be allowed off the bus if an adult isn’t present) RUSHING STREET STUDENTS - The bus stop locations for Rushing St. students will be the intersection of Rushing St. @ Buford Cook Dr. *Elementary parents must come to the school if they are unable to meet the bus at the stop. Elementary students will not be allowed off the bus if an adult isn’t present.

Notice of Public Meeting & Notice of Property Tax Increase The Bryan County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes of 11.51 percent. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing for this tax increase to be held at the Bryan County Board of Education at 8810 US Hwy 280 East, Black Creek, Georgia on August 15, 2024, at 9:00 AM. Time and place of additional public hearings on the proposed tentative tax increase are at the Bryan County Board of Education on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 6:15 PM and August 22, 2024, at 9:00 AM. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 15.075 mills, an increase of 1.556 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 13.519 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $300,000.00 is approximately $183.61 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $300,000.00 is approximately $186.72.

We are excited to welcome our students back to school on Thursday, August 8, 2024. We understand that the recent storm has impacted our community in various ways, and we want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. If your child is unable to attend school due to weather-related issues, such as high water or road closures, all student absences will be excused for Thursday and Friday. Each school will work with impacted families in an effort to support their individual needs during this time of recovery. Please be aware that there are still areas with high water and some road closures. As a result, some of our bus routes may need to be modified. We anticipate delays and kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we work to transport our students safely. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

North Bryan has experienced significant flooding and several damaged and/or washed out roads. We have staff assessing the safety of our schools, the drivability of our bus routes, and the ability of our staff to return to work. For example, we have one school that currently has 14 staff members unable to return to work based on where they reside and flooding. All these factors must be considered prior to having students return to school.  A decision will be made later this afternoon to open or remain closed regarding all schools. Although Tropical Storm Debby did not hit as hard as initially forecasted, many areas are still experiencing significant water accumulation. Several roads are impassable, and there is a large amount of water on several school campuses. Additionally, the storm's outer bands are expected to bring more rain this afternoon and evening. Due to these ongoing conditions and the forecasted additional rain, Bryan County Schools will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.

The latest weather predictions related to Tropical Storm Debby, indicate the storm is slowing down and has the potential to impact our area for several days. Based on the latest information, Bryan County Schools will remain closed Tuesday, August 6, 2024. We will continue to monitor the storm and try to provide updates by 1:00 pm each day regarding possible future closures. We hope all our students, staff, parents, and the entire Bryan County community stay safe as this storm passes through our area. * We are aware some did not receive the email and/or text message that was sent out yesterday. We are currently working with our mass communication provider to resolve this as quickly as possible. We believe it is resolved but unfortunately there is not a way to test other than to send a message to see if we have any failed attempts. We will monitor this and continue to provide updates through a variety of outlets to ensure everyone receives the messages being sent.

Bryan County Schools has been closely monitoring Tropical Storm Debby with its emergency services partners. When studying the most recent weather related data, the storm is highly likely to impact our area tomorrow. Considering the potential for historic levels of rainfall, flash flooding and possibility of tropical storm winds, Bryan County Schools has decided to close schools on Monday, August 5, 2024. We acknowledge that weather predictions can be challenging, and the storm's path and impact might change. Nevertheless, we do not want to put any student, staff, or parent in danger and believe that closing the district tomorrow is in everyone's best interest. All sporting events and afterschool activities will also be canceled for Monday. Bryan County Schools will actively monitor this storm and make a determination about returning to school on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 by 1 p.m. on Monday. We hope all our students, staff, parents, and the entire Bryan County community stay safe as this storm passes through our area.
